New Sig Sauer ROMEO-M17 Red Dot

Sig Sauer just released the ROMEO-M17, a red dot specific to the military M17/M18 as well as the M17/M18 Commemorative models which is essentially the same product sold on the commercial market. Interestingly, SIG has a different mounting system (called SIG-LOC) on the military M17 than the commercial models. If you have a 'real' M17/M18 you will probably know it, but for everyone else who is confused and likely has a commercial model there's an easy way to distinguish between the two.

First, the commercial model has P320 on the slide where the military M17 only says Sig Sauer M17. Additionally the true M17 will have an MFR and PN code on the slide just above the takedown lever. The military M17 will also have FDE controls where all commercial models were black. If you have a real M17 or M18 then this optic is for you.

The new ROMEO-M17 is made of 7075 aluminum and has a coyote finish to match your gun. It boasts a 20,000 hour run time with its CR2032 battery, a gas deflection system, and 15 brightness settings (3 of which are optimized for Gen3+ night vision). You also get MOTAC (Motion Activated Illumination), MAGNETAC (Magnetic Activation), and D.A.R.C. (Dark Adaptive Reticles & Coatings). It's only offered in a single part number with one reticle configuration of 2 MOA Dot / 32 MOA Circle.

The availability of this optic is great for those of you lucky enough to have a real M17/M17 and it's made for military use and abuse, but it also comes with SIG's military-grade price tag of $809.99.
