Today Sig Sauer launched the much rumored 1911 X-Series handgun. This new generation of 1911s will have the same reliability found on the prior models, but with modern features todays shooters are looking for. The frame remains stainless steel, but the slide gets the X-Series visual treatments. All models are optics ready with some guns including the red dot optic pre-installed from the factory. The slides are now cut to use the same sights as the P-series handguns and are fitted with the X-Ray3 Day/Night sights for optimum visibility regardless of lighting conditions.
The black guns no longer use the standard Nitron finish that we saw on previous 1911 models (as well as normal P220/P226/P229, etc). Instead we have a Black DLC finish which is much more durable and resistant to wear. The Coyote Tan color guns will be topped off with a PVD finish. Both the slide release and ambi-safety lever are extended and a newly designed LOK G-10 grip are standard on all models along with a steel magwell.
At launch only fullsize models are available, but SIG hopes to have a commander size version as well as other caliber options later this year. That is SIG time which means I wouldn't expect those to show up until 2025. Each of these models should be on the way soon and we hope to have them in stock by next week, but the quantities are going to be very limited on the first shipment. Be sure to check our our webstore and sign up for in-stock notifications and be the first to know when they arrive!
