When it comes to shotguns there's so many purposes with anything from Home Defense to Hunting and everything in between. One of the in-betweens is shooting just for fun and the Stage Coach shotguns certainly fall within that category. The side-by-side shotguns are a simple design with two rounds that are easy to load and unload. These will generally have a simple bead front sight and depending on the variation it may have a single trigger or double trigger (one trigger for each barrel). While we wouldn't suggest following our President's suggestion and walking out to fire these double barrel shotguns up in the air to scare off potential intruders trying to break into your house, it's certainly possible to use it for a home defense shotgun. The capacity is a limiting factor compared to pump action 'tactical' shotguns, but it's certainly doable.
That being said most people will buy one beacuse of the history of the coach gun, the fun factor, and the cool factor. If you're getting together with friends to shoot some steel these are really fun to take turns with. More than likely your friends won't have one so it's something different that everyone can enjoy. Another plus is these guns are generally not too expensive. You can find these side-by-sides from a number of manufacturers and the Stoeger is a great option for a gun that's of good quality that won't break the bank.
