A wonderful shotgun
By Mark Bucher
First of all, I've always been, always will love Big Green. My first shotgun, an 1100, I bought in West Germany in 1983, it still has a valued spot in my safe. I know this gun is made for Remington in Turkey. We've all read and heard horror stories about Turkish shotguns. Before I bought this shotgun, I did my due diligence and checked all the sources I could find. Akus made this shotgun for Remington using Remington design and specs. I could find no negatives regarding Akus shotguns online. After reading all the online reviews, I drove up to Osage Country Guns to check out the gun. I fell in love with it. The only problem was with the recoil pad, it was terrible. I bought the gun, and had the pad removed by my local gunsmith, and had it replaced with a Pachmayr pad. Now the gun's LOP fit me perfectly, my gunsmith was impressed with the gun's fit, finish, and mechanics. I've shot a few rounds of trap and skeet, the gun has performed flawlessly. This is a field gun, not a competitive gun, so that's what I use this gun for. On my next fall upland trip back to North Dakota, this will be my primary hunting gun. My backup gun will be a Remington Peerless. As I said, I love Big Green! I bought the gun at Osage, great staff, great price, totally happy.
A Remington, (made in Turkey)

First of all, I'm a huge big Green fan, so this review is somewhat biased. The fit and finish are superb. Case and accessories are great. The only negative is the recoil pad, which sucks. My only knock on the gun. Mr. Limbsaver came to the rescue, so all is right. For a field gun, it works. Went with me to North Dakota for ducks, and it performed as it should.
