Smith & Wesson M&P10 Sport Optics Ready – .308 Win / 7.62 NATO, 16", 20 Rounds (11532)
Large-frame ARs have gotten expensive, and the M&P10 Sport is Smith & Wesson's answer to that. It is dual-marked .308 Winchester and 7.62x51 NATO, runs a 16" 4140 steel barrel with 5R rifling and an Armornite finish inside and out, sits on a mid-length gas system, and — the part people don't expect at this level — has ambidextrous safety, magazine release, and bolt release. Eight pounds, 20+1, one PMAG included. S&W SKU 11532, UPC 022188869897.
Fully Ambidextrous Controls
This is the specification that separates the M&P10 Sport from most rifles in its class. Not just an ambi safety — S&W publishes an ambidextrous safety selector, ambidextrous magazine release, and ambidextrous bolt release. Left-handed shooters normally pay a premium or buy aftermarket parts to get that on a .308.
Armornite, Inside and Out
The 4140 steel barrel carries an Armornite finish on both the interior and exterior — a nitride treatment that hardens the bore surface, resists corrosion, and makes cleaning easier. The 5R rifling profile uses angled lands opposite grooves rather than square-cut ones, which reduces bullet deformation and fouling. 1:10 twist, and the barrel is threaded under an A2 flash suppressor.
Mid-Length Gas
On a 16" .308, a mid-length gas system lowers port pressure and stretches the recoil impulse out — which matters more on a large-frame rifle than a 5.56, because there's simply more energy to manage. The gas block carries a Picatinny-style rail, so a folding front sight or accessory can mount there.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will it shoot 7.62x51 NATO?
Yes. S&W's spec sheet dual-marks the caliber as .308 WIN / 7.62x51 NATO.
What does "Optics Ready" mean here?
No iron sights are included — the rifle has a flat-top upper for mounting your choice of optic. Plan on budgeting for a scope or red dot and, if you want them, backup irons.
Are the controls really fully ambidextrous?
Yes — S&W publishes an ambidextrous safety selector, magazine release, and bolt release.
What magazines does it take?
Magpul PMAG-pattern .308 magazines. One 20-round magazine is included; S&W also lists 5-round and 10-round options separately for hunting or restricted jurisdictions.
What's the muzzle thread pitch?
S&W doesn't publish it. Contact us before ordering a suppressor or brake and we'll measure it.
